Our Day on the Trail

Day 8 on the Lycian Trail was not one of our favourites. In fact, we'd only rate the hike a 5.5/10.

The trail followed an ancient aqueduct, which should have been interesting, but was overgrown and difficult / unpleasant to navigate. Oktay was smart, and wore a long-sleeved shirt. I was not so clever, and my arms look like I've been in a fight with a cat. There was lots of construction in the area, so we often felt we were trespassing through someone's back yard, rather than enjoying a walk in nature.

Oktay and I both had minor injuries today. I fell. Hard. Knocked the wind out of myself. Smacked my head on the ground. (I didn't cry, but I wanted to.) And Oktay cut his hand while trying to clear brush from the trail. We're fine, but our confidence took a hit - and likely detracted from our enjoyment of the day.

We are spending the night with a lovely family in Üzümlü, and look forward to a better day tomorrow.
