Our Day on the Trail

Day 9 on the Lycian Trail was a huge improvement over yesterday's experience. Gorgeous trail, a nice combination of flat and hilly, well-marked. No one got hurt, we had enough snacks, ate lunch at a lokanta enroute, most of the dogs we encountered were friendly, and we found a nice hotel before dark.

My favourite part of the day was the small river crossing. I had concerns that we'd have a repeat of Robert Redford and Nick Nolte's experience in "A Walk in the Woods", but we managed a textbook perfect crossing.

At one point, we looked out at the panorama and could pick out most of the places we've been to since starting this adventure. The guidebook suggested we should be proud of our legs. We are!

We've come to the realization that we can't manage some of the longer treks suggested in the guidebook, and chose to cut today a bit short. A slower and wiser approach should help us stay safe and healthy. We'll still see and do everything along the way, but in a slightly different order, and at a more relaxed pace.
